I have been highly trained in complex coronary intervention. Not all interventional cardiologists are equally trained and you need to be aware that skill level does vary. Also, contrary to popular belief, not all coronary blockages need (or should) be stented.

Cardiolgists generally don't publish complication rates and hence, patients are often reliant on their GP to guide them to the best available specialist. So, what makes a good interventional cardiologist?

Dr Touma has particular expertise in stent biomechanics and design allowing him to choose precisely the right stent for your coronary blockage.

He has a keen interest in calcified lesion management and use of the rotablator. He also has a specific interest in treating coronary bypass graft disease and coronary artery disease in the very elderly.

Dr Touma is an accredited implanter of magmaris bioabsorbale magnesium coronary stents - stents that dissolve from the body without a trace left behind. These stents may offer major advantages in younger patients with coronary disease.
